3 Prayers for a Hurting Marriage

Even when marriage feels broken, prayer is one of the most powerful things we can do.  The Lord hears His children when we seek Him in prayer, and He works in ways we can't always see.  Here are three simple prayers that you can pray today in the midst of your pain:

1) A Prayer for Healing

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."  Psalm 147:3

Lord, my heart is heavy and my marriage feels wounded.  Please bring healing where there is hurt, understanding where there is confusion, and peace where there is conflict.  Bind up what is broken and give us grace to move forward in Your love and strength.

2) A Prayer for Hope

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."  Romans 15:13

God of hope, remind me that my story is not over.  Even in this season of pain, You are at work.  Fill me with hope, joy, and peace that only comes from You.  Help me trust You with my marriage and my future.  Give me a heart to love like You want me to love, and to release pride and the urge to place self before my spouse.  Let me love and honor my spouse as You would have me to do.  I pray You receive glory in my marriage and life.

3) A Prayer for Strength

"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." Psalm 73:26

Father God, I feel so weak and weary.  Give me the strength to love when it is hard, to forgive when it feels impossible, and to trust You when I don't know what's ahead.  Be my strength when I have none of my own.  I trust You will provide.  In Jesus' precious name. Amen

If you are praying these words today, and you have received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you can rest assured God hears you and is with you in these tough times.  Keep trusting Him to lead you and provide for you as you seek His Kingdom and glory.

WHO I AM IN CHRIST 2 Corinthians 5:17--"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." When you have experienced heartbreak, rejection, betrayal, or relationship struggles, it is so easy to start believing the lies the enemy whispers to you. Sometimes its "You are a failure," or "You're not worthy," or "God can't love you." But those lies are crushed under the weight of truth--you are not defined by your past, your pain, or your mistakes. You are defined by your position in Christ Jesus. When you repented and placed your faith in Jesus, everything about your identity changed. You became a child of God (John 1:12), forgiven (Ephesians 1:7), redeemed (Colossians 1:14), and chosen (1 Peter 2:9). You aren't what was done to you, and you aren't what you've done. You belong to the One who makes all things new. Christ Jesus doesn't just save you from your sins--He restores your dignity, redefines your worth, and renews your heart. Even when others walk away, Jesus stays. Even when shame screams louder than grace, His word silences it with truth. Here's a prayer you may find helpful: Lord Jesus, thank You that my identity isn't rooted in my pain or my past, but in You. Help me to see myself the way You see me--forgiven, loved, and made new. When the enemy reminds me of who I was, remind me of who I am in You. Let my confidence come not from my strength, but from Your finished work on the cross and resurrection. In Jesus' precious name, amen. Here's a helpful thought: You are not a failure. You are forgiven in Christ. You are not forgotten. You are chosen. You are not broken beyond repair. You are being sanctified in Christ. Live today knowing your identity is secure--not in what you've lost, but in Who you belong to.
